Introduction:
With the increasing emphasis on English as a global language, the ability to communicate in English has become an essential skill in various fields. However, many students still struggle with learning English due to inadequate teaching methods. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the influence of teaching strategies on English learning efficiency and explore effective approaches for English teaching.
Methodology:
The survey was conducted among 200 English learners from different backgrounds, including students in high school, university, and adults learning English as a second language. The questionnaire focused on the teaching strategies that they had experienced and their evaluation of the effectiveness of these strategies. The data was analyzed using statistical software.
Results:
The results reveal that communicative language teaching, taskbased language teaching, and projectbased language teaching are the most effective teaching strategies for English learning, while traditional grammartranslation method and rote memorization are less efficient. Specifically, the communicative language teaching method, which emphasizes the use of English for communication purposes in reallife situations, received the highest evaluation from the respondents, with 85% of the participants rating it as effective. Taskbased language teaching, which uses tasks to promote language acquisition, received a 75% effectiveness rating. Projectbased language teaching, which involves students in realworld projects to enhance language learning, received a 68% effectiveness rating.
Discussion:
The effectiveness of these teaching strategies can be attributed to several factors. Firstly, they emphasize the use of English in reallife situations, which provides students with meaningful language input and output opportunities. Secondly, they focus on learners' active participation and collaboration, which enhances their engagement and motivation. Thirdly, they create a favorable learning environment that promotes language learning. Moreover, these teaching strategies are in line with the communicative approach to language teaching, which emphasizes the use of language in communication contexts.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, this paper provides evidence that communicative language teaching, taskbased language teaching, and projectbased language teaching are effective approaches to English teaching. It also highlights the importance of adopting a flexible approach to English teaching and using a combination of teaching strategies according to the specific needs of learners. The findings of this study can contribute to the improvement of English teaching and help English learners enhance their language proficiency.
